David joined Chalmers & Co in 2007 having spent 4 years working with one of East Lothian's premier property developers, where he specialised in converting farm steadings and rural properties. He qualified as a chartered architect in 1994 having studied at Robert Gordon's in Aberdeen for a BSc (Hons) in Architecture and a Diploma in Advanced Architectural Studies.
David started his working career with Aberdeen City Council's Architect's Department, where he cut his architectural teeth on a number of community and sports centres in the North East. In 1997, David moved to Edinburgh to work in a private architectural practice, Burnett Pollock Associates; he was appointed an associate in 2000, and worked on community projects with several church congregations and on housing for the elderly. From this experience, David has a wealth of knowledge on contract administration and partnership working methods to ensure projects are brought in on time and within budget. David's work on Penicuik North Kirk won him (and the congregation) a commendation in Midlothian Council Design Awards in 2004.
Of late, David has been working exclusively on rural buildings within East Lothian, sympathetically converting traditional steadings into modern, luxury homes. This work has included advising clients on maximising development opportunities and liaising with local authorities and Historic Scotland. He has considerable practical experience in organising the day-to-day running of developments and ensuring good site practices.
David is a chartered architect registered with The Architect's Registration Board, is a member of the RIAS and RIBA and has a qualification in Construction Health and Safety.
